If you’re into that jingle bells and Santa stuff. we’re sorry to disappoint you. Christmas shows just isn’t our thing. And since 2016 kind of sucked we’re all about gathering crazy, funky, multikulti beats with grove and love prepping for a 2017 that only can go higher.
We do it with Japanese 60:s pop beats from Jun Mayuzumi, the first ever electronic space music themed record from former Yugoslavia between 1981 and 2015 Yugoslavian Space Program, Cairo force of nature Islam Chipsy and Finland’s very own Dracula Frederik. Our biggest hope for next year we put in the hands of Ahmed Gallab’s project Sinkane. The band has announced Life & Livin’ It, a new record to be released in February. The video for lead single U’Huh celebrates positivity in a world filled with countless not very nice things.
But all states of mind have their exceptions. And Ajvar has one (1) Christmas tradition ftw. namely Freddie McGregor. The one and ultimate Christmas tune worth repeating. So, from all of us to all of you a very Irie Christmas.

When Ajvar is going to its first ever study trip the choice of destination was as simple as flipping a coin. So we ended up in Sarajevo – the city of breath taking backdrops, lots of Ćevapčići and figs, and a ruined Olympic bobsleigh track. And of course, music. Although we didn’t actually go for it in terms of record hunting, club hopping or brass playing, we simply embraced the feeling and atmosphere, went back to Stockholm and recorded this show.
Featuring the very best of Yugo disko, classic and rock from the golden age of the 70:s and 80:s. Llike one hit wonder Rok Hotel and the Rolling Stones of Balkan Bijelo Dugme to modern rap from Frenkie & Billain. Ending with a unforgetable cover of the song Aquarius, from the tribal love-rock musical Hair, by Plavi Orkestar.
Where our next trip will take us we don’t know. If you want to flip a coin, please sent us an email firstname.lastname@example.org.

We often say that we’re taking a trip around the world in one hour. This time that’s not only true but it is also done in a structured voyage starting in the west, going through the middle, ending up in the east. Taking off tam tam tam style with Brazilian Sonzeira, Indie Mambo world music band Orkesta Mendoz from Tucson Arizona and Jamaican dancehall ghetto living uptown Busy Signal.
Then passing through Europe and Africa featuring Berlin 17 Hippies, modern nu-soul Ghana emotions and boogie breakdown South African disco with Benjamin Ball. Touching down in Asia at folk-psych songbird Kim Jung Mi:s Beautiful Rivers And Mountains and last but oh so not least with Japanese rock artist Shintaro Sakamoto:s raw dance mashing up Hawaiian steel guitar, Brazilian cuica and banjo.
Next time we’re probably do it all over again. With a little less structure.
